The video for “House of Cards” relatively long in the works is finally up, and its pretty damn cool. The video uses no cameras whatsoever, only a technology that maps geometric shapes called Geometric Informatics.
“Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.”
Pretty cool stuff. There is some fan component, though I don’t see how fans can make a video like this. But it’s all on this google video page. Be sure to play with the data by clicking on the picture at the bottom, its pretty fun.
